Women’s Leadership Coalition

The Women’s Leadership Coalition (WLC) is a Northwestern Law student organization aimed at promoting women’s professional development. The WLC is one of the largest organizations at Northwestern Law, and hosts many events throughout the school year, including Networking 101, which teaches first year students how to approach and talk to attorneys at events, as well as a week-long Symposium each February aimed at addressing topics involving women in the law.

The organization’s largest and most popular programs focus on mentorship. In the fall, first year students have the opportunity to be paired with second and third year mentors who help answer questions about succeeding in law school classes and managing life in law school. During the spring term, the WLC works with law firms in the Chicago area to pair students with practicing attorney mentors who provide guidance about searching for jobs in the legal field.

In addition to professional development events, the WLC also organizes opportunities for current students to interact with alumni, volunteer in the Chicago community and participate in membership activities. Past outings have included yoga classes, trips to the Art Institute of Chicago and a visit to Zoo Lights at Lincoln Park Zoo.
